September has been a terrible month for weather but as
usual at this time of year people who were prepared to
fish the harbour were not
disappointed, we caught plenty of mackerel, scad, pollack,
bass, herring on feathers, wrasse, bream and a trigger on
the rough stuff with plaice,
flounder, dab, gurnards and sole on the sand plus a myriad
of smaller species. When we did get out to sea offshore
fishing was excellent for tope
around the 15 to 20lb mark with the odd blonde ray and
conger inshore. We had reasonable bass fishing with the average
size 7 to 12lb, making up for the lack of numbers, the
ray fishing as usual was good with lots of good
smalleyes and more than average thornbacks.
